Our piney, dank, and mind-bending East Coast IPA is a huge part of Blue Point's history. As Long Island's original IPA, it is often the first IPA of many local drinkers who pass the love for this crushable IPA from generation to generation.
Hoptical Illusion's malt-forward body and piney hop kick have landed it 4 notable awards, including a GABF medal.

Bottle from The Food Emporium, 1175 3rd Avenue, NYC. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, fruit, veg, syrup and grain. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Not one of the better IPA’s I’ve had here.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with some leafy green tea. Flavor is more malty than hoppy. Actually I hardly get any hops in this beer. It pretty much all sweet caramel malt with more of a dry bitter aftertaste. Where are the hops? This was bottled on April 10th so it is not very old. This was a beer that was probably a whole lot better before being bought out. This has macro brewed IPA all over it.

Bottle: Clear amber with a thick beige head. Sweet, tropical fruit, floral scent. Taste is mango, pineapple, orange....caramel malt......a touch of spiciness. On the sweet side, only a just a bit of peel bittering. Simple, but tasty.

Bottle shared at Leightons place, 19/01/2017. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is semi sweet, grassy, toffee, little pine. Palate is semi sweet sticky, moderate carbonation, spicy hop. Flavour is composed of semi sweet biscuity malts, toffee, tired piney hop. Ok.
