This brawny, tawny ale is a savory celebration of spicy rye malt and rye whiskey, compliments of extended aging in freshly-emptied rye barrels. Rye on Rye pours a deep amber and evokes notes of charred oak and vanilla, with a finish this delightfully boozy and sweet!

75ml bottle @PBF X. Deep amber, thin off white head. Rye, tartish berries, hoppy, spicy aroma. Complex. Flavor has spicy malty, rye bread, sweetness. Full bodied, spicy. Very good stuff. Sipper.

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Lightly hazy deep amber, small head. Caramelly nose with rye whiskey. Mid sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Caramel peppery whiskey and licorice. Warming and intense, yet mellow and edgeless.

Refrigerated 75-cl 2014 brown bottle best before November 2015 corked and capped poured into a tulip. Translucent medium brown with medium beige head. Aroma is spicy rye & malty, medium body, medium carbonation, and thick small-bubble lacing. Taste is spicy rye, some oak, some whiskey, caramel malt, some hops, and hints of booze. The is reminiscent of a barley wine, heavy beer, but pretty good.

Pours a dull reddish-brown from a bottle, espresso crema colored head with some lacing. Aroma is of a spiced whiskey. Flavor starts with caramelized brown sugar, followed by vanilla, slight sour cherry and baked apples, all intertwined with that hearty rye earthiness. Well-balanced yet boozy, feels like a whiskey drink without as strong a hit of alcohol on the back of the throat. Very good beer.

21.05.2015, 0,75l bottle (2014 vintage) @ home:
Nice slightly fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet grainy, caramel malts, oak, dark sugar, alcohol, grass, toffee, nuts, vanilla, almonds. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, oak, alcohol, minerals, caramel malts, weeds, burnt caramel, grain, hints of almond essence. Medium bitterness, mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle at Craig’s. Cheers Paul! Pours amber with a thin white head. Aromas of bourbon, but I guess that’s rye whiskey and oak? Citrus, in a cooked orange way. Taste is barley wine syrup territory. Some booze, but relatively balanced finish.
