Draught at 575, 10/31/15.
Hazy, dark amber-to-auburn liquid has a small beige head atop that fades quickly to a ring.
Boisterous fruitiness in the nose shows off cherries, raspberries, strawberries and a malty sweet cream and vanilla. Some light earthiness, hints of cellar notes and light clove are the extent of the "Trippel" character. Certainly don’t get much of that, but the barrel provides light grape and wood, as well, adding to the complexity. Alcohol is concealed, no flaws.
As far as in the mouth, it’s sweet, there’s no getting around that. But it never seemed cloying or syrupy, not in the least. Rather it completely balances any tannin or sharpness from the wine barrel and conceals all alcohol. Moderate, tight carbonation helps keep the beer drinkable and more fruitiness of all kinds, as well as plentiful wine character and tons of caramel, toffee and honey-like maltiness all provide a fairly complex, interesting flavor profile. So taking it all as more of a wine barrel strong ale, it works wonderfully. As a BA Trippel, not so much. But no reason to hold it to style as I greatly enjoyed, regardless of style.

On tap at RealTail Festival at Freetail. Pours a cloudy orange copper with a small white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a sweet fruit with grape. Medium mouthfeel with a white wine flavor and dry finish. Enjoyed this one.

On tap. Pours with a huge white head with good lace that stays. Hazy golden body underneath. Aroma of Chardonnay, grapes, Candi sugar, white wine barrels, tannins, delicate vanilla and floral notes. Taste is white wine, boozy, oak, a bit buttery. Alcoholic, with creamy carbonation. Pretty awesome actually!
