On tap at Flying Saucer Houston. Pours a clear brown with an amber hue and a tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and dark grain with a hint of hay. Flavor is similar with notes of bread and grain, with a bit of sweetness in the finish. Uninspiring.

On tap at Flying saucer. Pours a dark brown with a small creamy beige head. The aroma is a sweet roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with a rich chocolate and nice dry finish. A good brown ale from Independence.

Sample at the Texas Beer & Brats tasting 10/11/2009. The beer is a dark brown color with a thin light beige head that recedes to a film eventually. Roasty malt aroma with notes of nuts and hops. Medium, smooth body with flavors of roasted malt and nuts, hops and a bit of chocolate. The finish is roasty with a lingering malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Dansting. Pour is dark brown ruby with a nice light tan 1 1/2 inch head. Head is lasting, leaving decent lacing. Aroma of nutty maltiness, soft leafy tobacco. Soft, fresh, natural. Nice nose. Taste is the nutty maltiness, some bright fruit sweetness. Finish has some of the smoky earthy notes from the nose. Taste is not quite as soft and smooth as the nose. Nice, though. Palate is thin medium, slick, noticeable carbonation. One of the better browns I have had. (Please don’t take the previous comment out of context). Thanks for giving me this one Dan.

Dark brown color; poor head. Some aroma of caramel, roasted malt, cereals. Strange flavor, like a mild and sweetish rest of coffee. Below expectations.
