Bottled. Poured a deep brown with very little head. Wood, booze and malts. Probably maltier than most b wines. Very good.

Sample during Blarney Wine Festival 2025 on 03/15/2025. The beer pours a dark mahogany-brown color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Sparse spotty lacing on the glass. Roast malt, caramel and dark fruit aroma. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, black cherry and mild earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Definitely faded a bit in 11 years but still a solid Barley Wine.

Sample during Blarney Wine Festival 2025 on 03/15/2025. Dark brownish-amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse spots of lacing. Roast malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, black cherry, and earthy hops. The finish is fruity hops up front with a malty aftertaste. Good beer all around.

not what i was expecting from a baley wine. Aroma was slightly malty, but i seemed to be getting big notes of cherry, and cognac. Flavour as very smooth, and the alcohol was very well hidden. Finish was nice and bitter with more cognac notes. Nice barley wine, but not my fav

Dark red amber, opaque, with brief tan head. Full bodied and had medium carbonation. Aroma of caramel malt and molasses, taste is dark fruit and alcohol. Sweet malty finish.

Backlog October 2009. Reddish amber body under a fading beige head. Aroma is caramel, dry fruit and alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty with caramel, dry fruit and warming alcohol. Fine body and long lasting sweet, warming aftertaste. Pretty straight forward malt and dry fruit flavor, but made in a god and tasty way with some kind of balance even as sweet.

Barley wines are not exactly my thing but I have tried one recently that I thought was very good. So now I have Third Coast Old Ale to try after getting a 12 oz bottle on Black Friday at the Ft. Worth Total Wine. Utilizing my New Belgium snifter on this foray, the liquid is an appealing dark chestnut brown followed by a slender, eggshell colored head. And the scent supports the body, I get a nice caramel, some grain and pecans. The taste is likewise all right, wheat bread, plums, toffee, wood, raisins and something medicinal. Not bad at all.
