Craig was Lucid’s largest Kickstarter donor. This beer was brewed in his honor. Brewed with chocolate, crystal, and flaked-rye, Craig’s Ale is rich and complex with chocolate and peppery notes. This firkin was aged on cocoa nibs.

Bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a cloudy copper with thick frothy off white head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is chocolate, nuts, toffee. Thin mouthfeel with rich malt, chocolate, raisin, and light dry finish. Decent.

Pours a dark chocolate-brown, with (in my case) a huge, pillowy head. Maybe I got a bottle that was over-carbonated or something, but this was spraying out once I uncapped it. The aroma has some roasted grain in it and some alcohol notes. Flavor contains some chocolate and some roasted grain, but is largely of leather, with a strange, lingering sourness at the end of it, like a wild yeast or something snuck into this. I don’t think I’d drink another bottle, but it was worth a try.

Firkin Fest 2013. Some chocolate but I can’t pick up any cherry. Thin, malt flavors, and pretty much nothing else going. Lacks flavor, a boring beer. I like the idea.
