This was quite an interesting doppelbock. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of bourbon, chocolate, toasted malts, raisins and some oak. Similar flavors, slightly boozy. Medium body with average carbonation.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a clear dark brown color with garnet at the edges and a good sized tan head that slowly dissipates to a ring on top. Aromas of chocolate, coconut, vanilla, brown sugar, a hint of wood, faint dark fruits, and some bourbon. If you sat this in front of my nose and told me it was a barrel aged porter I would have believed you. The flavor is sweet sugary chocolate with lots of vanilla and bourbon. Light bits of earth oak and fruit round this out. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet silky sticky mouthfeel. This is a nice beer and I really enjoyed it, but I’m still looking for the dopplebock.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminishes. The aroma is vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt. Thick mouthfeel with rich chocolate, light vanilla, sweet malt, bourbon, and nice lingering sweet finish. Very good.
