This singular amber ale, brewed with a touch of smoked malt whisky, offers the delicate taste of fine Belgian yeast and caramelized apples.

It celebrates the courage and festive spirit of the log drivers of yesteryear.

Bottle at the Düsseldorf Gathering. Hazy, greyish amber body. Off-white, frothy head (fastly disappearing). Fruity aroma. Lightly bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Lacks complexity.

Very spicy, alcoholic aroma. Poured a fizzy copper color with a thin creamy head. Overly malty flavor, oaky, sour and alcoholic. This was not very good.

Bottled(330ml). -unclear golden coloured, firm white head, sweet peach nose (like ice tee), light smoked malty aroma with yeasty and fruity notes and few punch hints. There wasn’t any trace of whisky malt.

Hazy golden ale with a thick big bubbled white head. Classical Unibroue yeast aroma, with notes of peat malt. In mouth, good crisp malt with light smokey peat notes, some orange notes, yeast, and medium bodied. Good old standby. Bottle code E124.

(bottle, from bierkoning) Hazy amber colour with a big but diminishing frothy and slightly off-white head. Dusty, peach- and orange-peel-fruity and malty aroma with a light smoky note. Light-sweet flavour, light to medium body, almost fizzy carbonation. Malty, fruity and yeast-spicy taste with a slim and dry finish with hints of whiskey-malt. A bit fizzy and slim, but pretty drinkable Scottish Ale.

Hazy amber, tanned creamy head. Yeasty and fruity aroma. Fruity (apricot, apples, pears), metallic yeast, really no smoke anywhere. Light to medium body, somewhat fizzy mouthfeel.

RATING # 100 - 12 oz bottle. Bought an old six-pack that may have been on the self for at least 2 years. Used a La Fin du Monde glass. Pours with almost no head. A dark cloudy orange color. Cannot see through the beer. The aroma is strong. Some smell of meat but nowhere at the level of smoked beer standards like the Schlenkerla brews. Mainly, there is a sweeter smell not sure if it is whiskey (not a whiskey drinker). Good light medium body. Finishes with no lasting aftertastes. 8/3/7/3/14.

Rerate. 12 oz fresher bottle (long code on the neck, lets say 06) that JoeMcPhee smuggled in from Canada for me, tank you vedy much. I was surprised to see it pour as dead as the older bottle. Again I want to stress that the beer look sa bsolutely dead, no carbonation at all, as if its been sitting out overnight. The smoke is different here, like fruity, cider-ish smoke, weird. But overall a pleasant beer with red apple and flowery flavors. Definitely different than the rest of the Unibroue lineup and unlike any other beer really.

Bottle. Golden color if you don’t pour it all, unclear and cloudy if you pour the sediments too. Light, beige head. Quite fizzy beer, but not long-lasting head. Aroma is fruity/yeasty with malts and a smoked element. Aroma is much of the same, but the smoke is more dominant. Very fizzy mouthfeel. Finish is mostly fruity, and with bitterness at the end.
