Built from the backbone of Stone's classic Imperial Russian Stout, Stone Totalitarian Imperial Russian Stout certainly celebrates the hallmarks of the style - it pours jet-black with a fluffy chocolate head and tastes of deeply dark fruit flavors with rich chocolate and coffee overtones. Yet, however old world in nature, this particular rendition of an IRS is flavored with new world hops, intensifying its berry flavors and aroma while subtly introducing a juicy melon undertone. The result is a spectacularly sinful delight. Don't say we didn't warn you, comrade.

In 2017, we took a year off from releasing this amazing beer, causing some to worry that this was the end of an era. But in 2018, this deep, dark stout returns as big as ever and with a few upgrades. We added flaked oats for a smooth mouth feel and Belma hops, which round out the dark fruit component, providing an ever so slight hop edge.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home after sitting in the fridge for a long time. Opaque pitch black pour with fine dissipating mocha head. Aroma is rich leather, toffee, alcohol, light citrus, some melon, interesting. Taste is very big bitter boozy bite, roasted malt - not so much coffee, a little dark chocolate, then smooth melon and some tropical fruit hops, warm alcohol throughout. Surprisingly light palate. Very solid imperial stout but not that special in a crowded field, especially for the price.

12oz bottle pours with a deep dark colored body that supports a lasting mocha head. The aroma offers up malt balls, a bit of dark chocolate and faint milk chocolate. The taste delivers dark roasty malts bordering on burnt maltiness, chocolate, some malt sweetness and thin spicy black licorice like Mt Hood hoppiness. It becomes mildly boozy into the finish. Nice sipper.

Bottled. From Alko. Poured pitch black color. Thin brown head. Tobacco, roastedness and cold coffee in aroma. Pretty damn smooth for this abv. Ashy, roasted malty flavors, got some licorice and chocolate. Long dry finish. Solid.

A black beer, a head is big light brown. Aroma has liquorice, caramel, some dark dried fruitness, low roastiness. Good and intensive aroma. Taste has roastiness, liquorice, nice and drying bitterness, some dried fruits. Almost full bodied, smooth enough. The great beer.
