Draught at source: pours brownish with beige head. Aroma is caramel, sort of earthy. Taste is sweetish, earthy. Nice chewy aftertaste.

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown. Chocolate, biscuit, light smoke, light toffee, plenty of red fruit. Good body. Nice.

Keg at the brewery, July 2016.. Pours hazed ruby brown with a beige head. Aroma: roasted malts, caramel, cocoa. Taste: roasted malt, chocolate, nutty, coffee. Medium body with low carbonation.

More of a stout vibe than a scotch ale but still decent drinking. Roast and heavy malt without the peat moss like Scottish swamps. Dark brown pour with good head. Bitter and light tangy finish. Tap at brewery.

On tap at Ratio, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted caramel, bready malt and a hint of toffee. Definitely on the sweet side, and not all that complex. Okay.

Draft at Ratio Beerworks. Poured a dark brown color with a smal light tan head. Aroma was sweet malts, dry notes, light spices. Flavor was light coffee, roasted malts. Some alcohol really comes out in this one. Very solid scotch Ale, which isn’t something I say often.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear copper with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Medium mouth, light roast, dark chocoate, light bitterness, very good.

Tap at the brewery - dark purplish red - a decent rendition of the style, with sufficient malt depth and richness to satisfy what one looks for in a scotch ale - some toffee/caramelized sugars, light plum, faint earthiness/smoke - the sweetness is a bit sticky, lacking any kind of balancing character (mineral, savoriness, acidity), but still pretty good.
