American Pale Ale with Calypso and Mosaic hops. Made by Doug Pominville.
Our Grunion Pale Ale wasn’t born on a beach, but in a backyard. Originating from an employee-only home brew contest, this award-winning hoppy pale ale is named after the tiny local fish known for late night frolics on shore. A pair of new hop varieties lend strong yet balanced summer melon aromas and herbal flavors, while a soft caramel malt sweetness holds it all together.

Canned. Amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, some mild wood and earth with mild caramel to it. A bit daft. Flavour is fruity, wooden, resiny and some mild crystal malty sweetness and crispiness to it.

On tap at Ballast Point Miramar. Clear honey gold pour. Creamy beige head. Earthy, bready malt aroma hints at floral hops. Flavor is toasted malt accented by bittersweet citrus flavors. Notes of grapefruit and orange pith. Resiny pine notes on backend are subtle. Decent as West Coast pale ales go.

Backlog. Pours copper with a white head. Citrus hop and caramel malt aroma. The flavor is quite hoppy for pale ale. It has citrus, pine, and caramel flavors, and it’s medium bodied and good.
