Our Grunion Pale Ale wasn’t born on a beach, but in a backyard. Originating from an employee-only home brew contest, this award-winning hoppy pale ale is named after the tiny local fish known for late night frolics on shore. A pair of new hop varieties lend strong yet balanced summer melon aromas and herbal flavors, while a soft caramel malt sweetness holds it all together.

Shaker pint draft at Martin City Brewing Company “The Pub” in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is mostly clear golden with a small white head that leaves behind nice lace. The aroma is resin floral hop along with cracker malt. The taste clean cracker malt balanced nicely with super fresh floral resin hops. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and a mineral resin finish. Super fresh, clean and balanced.

Sampled on draft at Piper’s Pub this beer poured a dark copper color with a medium sized foamy white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was bitter with catbox and cactus notes. The flavor was bitter cactus, catbox and pine. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good.

355ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange-gold with a medium, fluffy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Sweet, fruity, hoppy aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, orange and pine. Sweet, fruity flavour of grapefruit, mango, peach, tangerine, caramel malt and grass with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Delicious APA.

Its a good pale ale. Pale amber color, modest head. Bright citrus hops, notes of lime juice, vague sweet fruit. Flavor is dry, crisp, cracker-like malts with a lime-citrus hop flavoring, medium bitterness at finish, long citrus aftertaste. IPA level hopping really but who cares.

Can. Clear very pale amber with a large white head. Aroma of , cantaloupe and honeydew melon, peach, mandarin, hay, lime leaf, some onion. Lightish bodied, carbonation is just on the high side for me. Zesty and a bit herbal with sweet fruit before a dry and quite bitter finish. Lots of melons some citrus and peach. The hayish/ crackery malt is austere and in the background but keeps the whole thing savoury enough that the decent whack of bitterness seems to fit. But then once noticed the oniony flavours do stack up. Punchy.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. This is a crystal clear golden one with a nice big lacing white head. Smells absolutely lovely. Peachy sweet, tropical hoppy traces of grapefruit and it's a little yeasty in the back. Super inviting aroma! Tastes decent also, but not as good as the aroma. It's a mild pale ale. Feels light oily in the mouth and it's just below average on the bubbles. Soft yeasty, there's a nice hoppy bite but feels more on the sweeter malty path. Easy to drink, but not too memorable except for that nice fresh nose. 11.06.2015

Can. A- Dank, hoppy, grassy, subtle melon, soft citrus, subtle caramel. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Bitter, caramel, biscuits, subtle citrus. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- As far as aroma goes, I’d say this is pretty textbook. Very dank. The taste is about the same with a medium bitterness that fades into a caramel backbone. Tasty stuff but I could have used a little bit more citrus. I’d consider this one of the best for the style but not quite a staple for me.

Draught (Bishops Arms, Västerås) - Amber in colour. Pine, peach, caramel and grapefruit feature prominently in both the aroma and in the hoppy and slightly cloying taste.

3 month old can into a pilsner A: Clear pale orange. Large tan head. Active bubbles feeding the head for thick lacing. S: Sweet orange, grapefruit zest and caramel malt. A woody note. T: Malty with earth and pith. A little pine and tart fruit later. M: Medium weight with low soft carbonation. Slight oiliness. "Smooth" going down. O: Can IS fairly old but I’m hardly bowled over as I expected based on the ratings. Very average to me. Not worth it’s price.
