Burning for an eternity. Left to simmer the remnants of life's excess. Seeped into our burning desires. And blemished in the perils of these joyous occasions. Seasoned Skillet. A 12% blend of our finest Imperial Stout barrels, carefully amalgamated and then touched with lactose and Counter Culture Coffee to form the most daring Skillet preparation.

At Burial’s tap takeover in Antwerp (Beerlovers). Thick, dense, creamy, lightly lacing, pale beige head, blackish robe with hazy burgundy hue, still largely translucent. Aroma of freshly toasted coffee beans and a lot of them, freshly made ristretto, almond, hazelnut liqueur, milk powder, green beans, bronwies, toasted brown bread, blackcurrant, hints of bourbon and ’old furniture woodiness’ in the background. Sweet onset of dried fig and candied banana, very light dried black olive-ish umami accent, medium carbo, smooth, thick and oily mouthfeel, quite creamy and sweet toffeeish and hazelnutty - the intended donut effect, no doubt. A very faraway metallic tinge lingers around retronasal coffee powder, caramel and light bourbon impressions with an equally light oaky woody accent; peppery hop bitterish touch in the end as well with a sour blackcurrant undertone. Decent, modern craft beer era strong sweet stout, but lacking a bit in the promised bourbon barrel ageing.

Tap at beerlovers bar tap takeover. Pours black dark brown, ok , rather white head. Smell is more complex than the base, but it has got mostly coffee. Taste is more intense. Coffee, dark chocolate. Not bad at all.

Better, but still quite thin… You get the bourbon though.
