Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head that tops the beer nicely and fades a bit too quickly. Aroma of cherries, oak, dry malt, caramel, raisins, cognac and a bit of alcohol. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich malty flavours with some oak, malt, toffee, peat, earth, grain, rye, metal and quite a bit of alcohol and bitter deep flavours of pit fruits, earth, medicinal and slightly astringent flavours and finishing with some vanilla and a touch of unfinished yeast. Aftertaste is deep and pungent with the earthier and astringent flavours pushing through harder than the rest, but some sweetness from honey and pit fruits ends the complexity. Overall, a nice robust beer with a lot of complexities and a smoothish profile and moderate complexity throughout make this interesting, but not amazing. I’m still happy that I traveled back with this one from Texas and aged it as long as I did. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Spec’s Liqour in Dallas, Texas on 11-November-2015 for US$13,67 sampled at home in Washington on 16-February-2017.

On tap at Craft Pride. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast and cherry skin. Thick mouth, roast, cherry, cocoa, light boozy finish, very good.
