Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy dark amber color, with red hue, small compact head. The mix of rye and yeast produces some anise aroma. The flavor has some caramel, some liquorice, it’s earthy, and has some anise. I don’t know where they get the pumpernickel, not from Germany for sure, and I don’t know why anybody would fancy this.

Hazy amber-brown, with a thin head. Quite spicy, lots of rye, toastiness. Full body. Not a lot of complexity, just an amber with rye character.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is spice, pumpkin, cardamon. Medium mouth, similar flavors to nose, light dryness, good.

On tap at The Commons, pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is heavy on the spices, with lots of cardamom and caraway upfront, and a gingerbread quality. Flavour is actually pretty good for what it is, with notes of cardamom and sweet gingerbread dominating. Surprisingly pleasant for such spices, with a soft palate. Very nice.

On tap at the Brewpub. Amber with a small head. A special one with spices, malt and light fruit. Not really my kind of beer.
