Gnommegang - Belgian-Style Blonde Ale

A little magic and a lot of mischief. This time the gnomes brought more than just yeast from their Belgian farmstead Brasserie d'Achouffe! While Coop and the gnomes were spicing things up at the brewery, our brewers were carefully fermenting signature, fruity, spicy Chouffe yeast to create the flavorful unique blonde ale we all love! You’ll enjoy the smooth drinkability, fruity aromas and flavors, and warming finish.

Lemon, yeast, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate white head. Moderately sweet lemon, orange, yeasty biscuit malt, and mildly bitter grass/fresh hay flavor. Good body.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is peppery estery yeast, bready malt, notes of ripe fruits, touch of banana and orange. A hint of alcohol in the finish. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is above medium. Some lovely yeast at work here, good balance and body, a very fine Belgian Strong Blonde.

My first ommegang in 5 years, wish Belgian styles were more popular! Creamy honey caramel sweet and dry notes. Easy drinking for its abv.

I obtained this pint can from Half Time recently, glad to get a new-to-me Ommegang beer. In place is a Belgian chalice so it's time to make the pour. The view is a semi-transparent orange-amber liquid with a properly representative head of absolutely white foam. I take a smell and get yellow fruit, yeast, grain and a hint of spice. Lift the glass and take a drink now. The spiciness comes forward with cloves along with peaches, white bread, malt, citrus, apricots, some hoppy bitterness and straw. No lack of fullness, I enjoy that. Call it a strong Belgian pale ale or a tripel, I think it is a fine brew.

16 oz can. Aromatic Belgian malt nose right in the pour. Deep brassy color under an orange-tinged head. More Belgian brewing spices as I bring the glass to my nose. Fine stylistic taste, with coriander. Yeasty taste in there, too. Great tasting beer.
