Our twist on the traditional robust American Porter, Shake Chocolate Porter is dark black in color with rich, sweet aromatics and flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. This unique brew blends five different grains, including Chocolate Wheat, that along with cacao nibs create a devilishly delicious chocolate finish with a velvety mouthfeel.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a white to off white foamy one finger head that dissipated fairly quickly. Lacing is semi-thick and clingy.
The smell starts off with big sweet milk chocolate hovering above some caramel and a light vanilla.
The taste was extremely sweet through the chocolate. Light milky chocolate flavoring holds the fort down fairly nice and leads to a decent roasty and semi-grainy milky chocolate aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Its definitely sessionable.with a big smooth creaminess sticking to my tongue.
Overall, best thing about this beer is the texture, I really liked that. This one really drinks like a chocolate milkshake. I liked it for me, but do see not as much robust/roasty coffee-ness in the aroma/flavor.

Bottle from GreatBrands. Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a big milk chocolate with subtle notes of coffee and vanilla in the background. Taste is more vanillaforward with the milk chocolate and coffee. Quite sweet and yummy.

Just a taster at Fox & Hound Aurora, served on nitro. It may be unfair to rate this right after a Not Your Father’s Root Beer, but let’s see how this one goes. Very deep brown, almost black, more like a Stout except the head is a tad lighter. Smell is distinctly of chocolate roast malt more than chocolate addition. But not roasty or astringent. Taste settles more into a sweet Stout neighborhood. Perhaps it’s because of the desire to bring in a cocoa character. After a few sips, though, my nose does pick up a sense of chocolate bar. But this actually comes in pretty dry. A little smoother than a roasty stout, a bit more flavor than a porter. That is not a bad position to be in.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a big chocolate milk. Hershey syrup comes to mind. Flavor is another dose of chocolate syrup with a lingering sweetness. Those cacao nibs are really doing their job here b/c you can’t get this much chocolate flavor from just the malt alone. Pretty tasty and will satisfy your sweet tooth.
