On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is caramel, candy sugar, red wine, wood. Medium body, rich malt, dark fruit, red wine, candy sugar, boozy finish, very good.

Taster at the brewery - pours a much darker Amber than the base beer - this is a well- done wine barrel barleywine - it loses some of the brighter fruit and sherry of the base beer, but becomes much heartier, adding deeper layers of treacle, pear, brown sugar - stronger oxidation adds a nice depth - red wine tannins compliment the finishing acidity well - finish of treacle, brown sugar, spices - nice.
