Bottle from Damián Beer and ale Funny fellow where you don't really feel the alcohol. Has strong fruity character together with grapes. Now when I read the style it makes sense that I felt like I am drinking some prosecco.

Bottle at the brewery after a day of tasting cask beers intended for creating new blends. Cheers to Glenn, the brewer! Strong gusher, foam spouting out of the bottle for a long time after opening; resulted in a very thick, very rocky and pillowy, egg-white, dense head, sitting atop a hazy orangey amberish coloured beer, with fierce champagne-like sparkling throughout. Aroma of melon, strawberry, sweet white wine, soap, overripe nectarines, baker’s yeast, caramel, cognac, bread crust, orange liqueur, honey. Very sweet, peachy and strawberry flavours with light banana interwoven, sourish gooseberry-ish undertone, lots of residual sugars with honeyish effect over a bready, caramelly malt backbone; fizzy carbo (unsurprisingly seen the gushing and fierce visible sparkling), thick mouthfeel made thicker by the sugariness. Lots of yeastiness accentuating the breadiness, spicy phenolic accents, earthy hop bitter accent in the finish with a lot of warming, brandy- and even liqueur-like alcohol. Sweetness sticks a bit in the end. Something must have gone wrong with refermentation here, but still enjoyable as a strong, sweet sipper in a kind of tripel-ish ’Belgian barleywine style’ (think Stille Nacht and the like).

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie consumed at home, Friday 6th January 2017 i Pours mid to dark brown, a touch puddly like in appearance what head there may of been was soon consumed by the murky body. This is the best that I have had from Alvinne for some time, it’s a big solid beast of a beer, very Barley Wine like to me as opposed to a Belgian Strong Ale. Big chewy malty beer, lots of oomph from alcohol, fruity, some toffee, sweet, good beer. A6 A3 T8 P4 Ov14 3.5

Bottle. Pours clear, dark amber. Good White head. Smell is bit sweet. Taste is sweet, strong Sharp grainy notes. Bit metallic, some alcohol, but nowhere near 12 pct. Kinda weak overall, so the actual tateprofile isn’t really that interesting, and the alcohol ( even not overly intense ) gets a free play to dominante the ( weak) taste. Alvinne makes some of the best sours on the market, and I think that that’s just their thing. This isn’t all to great, on the other hand...
