75 cl bottle. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is liqourice/star annis, roasted malty. Toasted malty and caramelish. Toasted malty. Dark roasted and breadish malty finish.

Bottle. Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of bourbon, oak, orange peel, heavy bourbon spiked latte, milk chocolate, coconut and vanilla. Medium body. A bit too bourbon forward for me.

Poured from a bottle it is a dark brown with a slight head. The aroma is fruity and the taste is dark cherries and laced with bourbon.

From a 75 cl. bottle shared. Pours a clear dark cola with an ecru head. aroma of dark fruits. Flavors of plums and dark chocolate. Medium bodied Roasty finish.

750ml bottle at home pours an inky black with loads of active, frothy, beige head. Nose is a bit off, sure there’s toast and there’s malt, some very mild cocoa nib too, but there’s a distinct wheat chaff character along with some straw. Very mild nose. Flavor has some black pepper, some dusty cocoa powder, toast. Hardly any barrel, not much chocolate either. Struck me as being maybe just the slightest bit infect, but perhaps they got the wrong kind of re-fermentation out of the champagne yeast. Either way, struggled through this one. Not one of their finer efforts.

Aroma of soft wine, mellow roast, barrel aged nose, soft alcohol
Taste of soft dark malts, soft red fruits, dark sugars, dab of red wine, soft yeasr, alcohol well hiddem
Palate - soft carb, bit thin. Finish as main flavour, warming alcohol, soft red fruits, easy for abv
Overall - Quite a decent impy - didn’t strike me at the time as being something exceptional...not sure it was really worth all the extra expense

750 ml bottle shared by Jason H. Pitch black color with little head to speak of. Aroma is fruity with Belgian yeast and light nuances of vanilla bourbon, nice! The flavor is subtle.
Flavor starts with Belgian yeast, earthy malt, and a light orange pith in the backend of the sip. It’s hard to pick out the orange but it is there in a pith / peel kind of hint. The pith helps cut through the yeast and earthy malts. Alcohol is hidden real well. Medium-bodied, with low level of carbonation. Interesting brew, it reminds me of the chocolate covered oranges you can find around Christmas time.

Bottle at The Diamond during the Brooklyn Ghost Bottles event. This beer was aged in Elijah Craig barrels - should this be a different beer than the regular Cuvee Noire? Anyway. Pours brown with a thick, beige head. Cocoa and burnt toast in the nose. Very sweet flavor, plenty of alcohol, a bit of wood and liquor. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Big warming finish, woody with hard alcohol, mild roast, slight earth. Heavy on the Elijah character, so if you like that, you’re on.
