Location: Draft at Hop Devil, 2/18/11
Aroma: The nose has notes of chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, and a good amount of spice
Appearance: It pours into the glass a dark brownish color with a light brown head
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose, mostly malty, not a ton of hops, spicy and roasted flavors
Palate: This one is medium bodied, you can't really feel the ABV here, and it has a fairly smooth feel
Overall Impression: Overall, I found this to be another interesting offering from Brooklyn. Out of the 25ish beers I've probably rated from these guys, I'm confident that they can hot on pretty much any style. This was another one that worked pretty well.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin creamy brown head. In aroma, a fragrant licorice, chocolate, and light smooth hops. In mouth, a smooth chocolate, with light British hops, some of notes of chalk, not bad, but not as intense as expected. On tap at Brewvvival, Feb. 26 2011.

Plastic pint glass, on draft at the Brewery tasting room in Brooklyn. Pour is quite dark, black, perhaps a hint of dark brown with a nice one inch khaki head. Despite the plastic cup, quite nice looking. Aroma is chocolate malt, roast, and Belgian spice yeastiness. Nice integrated nose.Taste is the nose with the Belgian yeast coming more to the forefront. Behind the spice is the roast and semi-sweet chocolate malt. Palate is medium to full bodies, velvety texture and a rick sweet roast finish. Nice one.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a very dark brown color with a very large foamy beige head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was faint fruit, port wine and a touch of wochestershire sauce. The flavor was dryish and malty with notes of port wine, wood, oregano and basil. The finish was long, dry and malty with vague fruit and herbs. Medium body. Ok.

Courtesy of Mr and Mrs Pourhouse, thanks! Pours deep mahogany with thin off white head. The aroma is pretty rich and sweet with black licorice, yeasty spices, black strap molasses and some dark roasted malts. The taste is a bit spicy with black licorice and spicy yeastiness moving then toward dark roasted malts, prunes and drippy messy ripe plums. It ends a bit spicy with sweet malt as well as with roast and dark fruity esters. Nice stuff.

on tap @PourHouseTampa-pours a light brown head and dark brown color. Aroma is licorice/molasses-dark malt, dark fruit-cherry. Taste is earthy, licorice/roasty-dark malt, dark fruit-cherry, 2nd wood, earthy hops bite.

Au fût @ RedLight RedLight, Orlando. Brune foncée, mousse est épaisse et beige/moka. Arôme, malt, levure belge, note de fruits noirs; date, figue, raisins. Palais, je pense à une bière belge mais avec un caractère plus malt. Note de sucre brun, malt grillé, levure typique belge, des fruits noirs ajoutant ce filament d’aigreur en bouche qui disparaît assez vite grâce au malt. En se réchauffant, cette dernière gagne en intensité et en saveur.
