Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear dark ruby color with a medium sized frothy brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malty notes, chocolate, some banana-like fruit notes. The taste is chocolate, nuts, faint fruity notes and a bitter leafy hop finish. Smooth, medium bodied.

Draft: Funky barnyard, black chocolate, and walnut aroma. Black, medium creamy tan head, good lacing. Molasses and baker’s chocolate flavor with plums dominating. Creamy mouthfeel, alcohol not noticeable. Walnuts persist on the back of the palate. Good balance, excellent texture.

Draft at Rattle N Hum. Deep brown body with a short, tan head. Malty aroma of caramel, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Notes of raisin, plum and woodiness along with some herbs. The flavor is lightly bitter and moderately sweet. It finishes lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately sweet. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Interesting beer. The sweetness is tamed by the bitterness which is not overpowering, but lingers along with tastes of sweet plum and raisin — and some woody notes.
