On tap at the brewery. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast, cocoa, vanilla. Medium body, dark chocolate, oak, bitter roast finish, dry, very good.

4 oz pour on draft at Triple Crossing Fulton. Shared by DCLawyer, thanks Jason! Black with tan head. Aromas of licorice, chocolate, roasty notes. Tastes of roasty notes, chocolate, light licorice. Medium body with a dry finish.

On tap at the brewery, pours a mostly opaque black with some soft, off white head. Nose has malt, toast, some cocoa powder, a little molasses. Fairly mild. Flavor follows, sweet with malt and molasses, some toast, dirt, a vegetal note that doesn’t quite jive. Finishes a touch flabby.

Keg at the VA Craft Brewers Festival. Dark brown, thin frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, honey, mild whiskey. The taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, mild whiskey. Medium bodied, well balanced.
