Poured at Shelton Festival, cloudy brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is peppermint, sage, licorice. Thin body, strong peppermint, booze, licorice, very unusual but enjoyable.

375mL bottle, drunk 12/17/16.
Dark mahogany-to-cola body shows good clarity and a greyish-beige head atop that steadily recedes to a ring.
After the traumatic experience that was Fistbump the Void, I was not exactly expecting the most from this, but I do love Fernet, so I had to try it. The nose is surprisingly balanced with the spicing. It most certainly doesn’t smell like a shot of fernet. The spice is certainly there, but there are plentiful esters, phenols, and a good dose of malt, adding bread, toffee and caramel. Herbs, spices (mainly peppermint and anise-like notes) and shockingly low alcohol make for a reasonable mix of both beer and fernet.
The flavor is equally balanced. Granted, this isn’t going to make your top 50 most balanced beers list, but for what it could be, this is pretty reasonable. Very low carbonation, with a sticky-malty body with some slickness from the spice/herbs. It still provides enough malt body to balance and the lack of alcohol has me wondering that this is really 11%. It’s quite a bit of pepper, peppermint, wintergreen and thankfully not as much pure anise that would easily overwhelm. Caramel, esters and breadiness linger. Surprisingly drinkable and pretty well-done given how difficult I think this would be to do well.

Taster at source clear amber with a nice white head. Aromas of peppermint and more peppermint. Taste is you guessed peppermint. Used as a digestif small amounts recommended.
