Bottle from Lidl. It pours clear deep mahogany brown with a thick, beige head. The aroma is toasty malt, earth, brown bread, rivita, malt loaf, raisin, sultana, pie crust and fruit cake. The dry, bitter - sweet, sultana, raisin, dried fruits, candi sugar, a splash of cherry cola, cakey, malt loaf, plum, prune, a touch of spice, earth and a hint of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Fairly straight forward, yet drinkable and moreish. Also shared a 1986 bottle at DHVL during my pre-wedding celebrations (!). An experience for sure.

Bottle, many thanks Martina! Clear deep amber-brown color with white head. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, estery. Taste is lightly grainy, caramel, raisins. Oily mouthfeel with rather high carbonation. Fun!

Malty aroma with peach and a hint of cinnamon. Long lasting big frothy head. Sweet, in fact a bit too sweet with some cinnamon, licorice, peach and metal. Bland, sweet and a bit disappointing

33 cl bottle poured into a Trappist glass. Dark brown colour with a creamy lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, rich fruity notes, chocolate and a toasted note. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Slightly drying finish with an earthy bitterness. Nice.

No dating on the corked and caged 750ml bottle.

Not a gusher. Pours a clear mahogany, with a finger of off white foam. Some good sticky lacing.

Smell has a ton of caramel malt and toffee, dark pitted fruits, a really delightful nose.

Caramel malt with an abundant flavour of dark pitted fruits that add a light fruity tartness. Toffee is there along with a mild oxidation. The abv is a non factor.

I'd call it on the lower end of medium bodied. Carbonation is fine.

Delicious and not bad on the wallet at ~US$11.00
