Big thanks to markwise for sharing this beauty that pours deep darkness with mocha head. The aroma offers up black strap molasses, some dark roasted coffee, a mild level of chili peppers and dusty malt balls. The taste is rich and yummy with molasses, dark to near burnt roasted malts, black strap molasses and rich oily yummy, did I mention ‘rich’, coffee beans. I get a faint chili pepper sense hovering around the edges of the flavor. Very nice brew.

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers, #212/213, 2011 vintage. Deep opaque brown body with reddish highlights; thin clumping beige head. Nose of chocolate wafer, coffee, and booze. Strong coffee and alcohol notes in the body; also dark chocolate. Rough with serious prickly heat. Good, close to very good.

Bottle 104 of 213. Pours black. Quickly disappearing brown head. Nose/taste of fresh coffee, roast chocolate, oak and vanilla. Taste has some light lactose sweetness and cocoa. The coffee is definitely front and center in both nose and taste. Medium body.

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG thanks to Alexsdad06, pours black with a dark brown head. Aroma is heavy roast, molassis, syrup and coffee. Flavor is bitter black patent, heavy roast, some smoke and a lingering coffee in the finish. The coffee is pretty reserved, but mellow nad very nice at the same time.

Bottle thanks to Brad! Poured black with a yellowish brown head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was full of coffee beans with some backing roasted grains and a hint of bourbon. Flavor was quite nice with a combination of coffee and bourbon with a hint of chocolate and roasted malts. Nicely rounded.

750 ml bottle. Very dark brown, tan head. Has plenty of barrel in the aroma, but too much barrel in the taste for me, it overwhelms the rest of the beer.

Sample at the Jackie O’s Bottle Sale/ Stout and Big Beer Fest on 02/05/2011. Pours black with a minimal tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and bourbon. Rather rich and smooth body with flavors of chocolate malt, moderately bitter coffee and booze. The finish is bourbon-soaked roasted coffee beans. Veers a little far on the bourbon side but a solid beer nonetheless.
