9/10/15 vintage as referenced many times below. Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is clear amber-red with fair, lazy sparkle, ephemeral off-white ring of head with no lacing. Aroma is strong caramel and whiskey, hint of brown sugar. Taste is very sweet caramel and booze--bordering on medicinal--finish as candy. Palate is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation, mild numbing of the lips and sweet candy-like finish as noted above. Overall, I was expecting the booze to have mellowed out a bit by now and to be more complementary than so assertive. If you want a really sweet, boozy dessert beer then this would be exactly what the doctor ordered. If you're looking for something else, look for something else.

Bottle thanks to Seth. Pours a hazy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is toasted malt, bourbon, oak. Slick body, oak, cocoa, boozy, very good.

Pours hazy golden brown into a tulip. White head bubbles and disappears. Dark molasses and pit fruit aromas. Thick with hot caramel and vanilla upfront turning to dried pit fruit and molasses in the warming finish.

22 oz. Bottle provided by Chalumeaux. Bottle date of 9/10/2015. Compared side by side with the other Julio’s variant. Thank T.J.! Coconut nuance, toffee, mild whiskey and dark fruits.
The whiskey really help cuts the rich deep sweet flavors. Coconut, raisins, toffee and light oak. The body is is almost full body. The alcohol provides a nice warming after the sip. Yet, not some much alcohol as to detract from the flavor. The whiskey barrel treatment bumps this beer to a whole new level.

Bottle from Julio’s Crystal clear deep copper color with a decent sized frothy tan head that persists forever. Beautiful nose! Sweet brown sugary caramel maltiness with plenty of vanilla and light oak with a smattering of dark fruits and a touch of sweet bourbon. The flavor brings all the aromas together. Initially a sweet almost sugary with a light honey maltiness. Light vanilla and a hint of coconut with some light oaky notes. Dark fruitiness adds some nice subtlety. Light lingering warming alcohol notes remind you this one is 11% but it never gets harsh. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Damn that is a fine beer right there! It’s a sipper for sure, but damn I should have bought more!
