Our American Pale Ale uses American two row malted barley and a touch of light crystal malt in combination with two pungent and resiny whole cone American hops. The hops are added to the boil using strategery to yield a pleasant, yet satisfying, hop punch. The beer is named after our favorite college watering hole: Zeno’s Pub.
Tasting notes: yellow-orange with a lacey white head; nice light malty-breadiness up front; resiny hop punch with notes of citrus and pine at the back. A beer for any occasion, including...

12 oz. can from HEB in Boerne, TX. Pours a cloudy applesauce color with a small white head and decent retention. Spotty lacing. Citrusy hops aroma. Like the aroma, the flavor is hop-forward and fairly bitter for an APA, with grapefruit notes in the finish. Medium-light body. Average carbonation. Lingering bitterness. Tastes like every other American pale ale.

On tap at Hughies. Pours a hazy gold with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is pine and citrus. Medium body, juicy, melon, dank, light bitterness, good.

On tap at the Hay Merchant. A finger-thick white head sits on top of a hazy, golden body. The aroma is malty and toffee-ish, with a light fruityness and citrus fruits. Some candy notes. The flavor is semi-sweet, with toffee hints, citrus notes and a herbal touch. It’s supersmooth on the palate, with a nice carbonation level and a lasting sweet, toffee and citrus finish. Not my preferred kind of pale ale, it’s too malty for that, but then again it drinks easily. 140515

Moon Tower Inn, Houston tap ($5): Pours golden with white head. Aroma is light amounts of citrus, with some very light malt backbone. Taste is much in the same direction. Slightly bitter, but plenty flavorful and fruity. Not bad, but simple and all.
