The Saison Dupont Bio* is a top fermentation, blond beer with refermentation in the bottle.
Created in 1990 and together with the Moinette Bio*, one of the two first organic* beers.
The Saison Dupont bio* is a very thirst-quenchening beer with a outspoken bitterness and dryness.
You will discover a touch of citrus (especially pomelo) which even is a strenghtening of this thirst-quenchening aspect.
The long refermentation in the bottle ends up in a very complex but light beer.
The production is being controlled by Certisys and has the label Biogarantie®.

Dark golden/light orange, quite hazy, good and healty white head, nice persistence and lacing. Aroma has fruity notes of lemon and maybe pear, herbal/grassy freshness, a bit of a spicy note and an underlying earthy feel. Taste has a bready/crackery malts foundation, again an underlying earthy feel, lemon and a bit of spiciness. Dry and quite bitter finish. Light body, dense carbonation, easy and lively mouthfeel. Overall this is well done, refreshing and sure good for hot weather. Still, it’s so similar to their standard Saison Dupont that i can’t help but think of it as watered down, less complex version.

Bottle. Aroma mostly fruity, general fruitiness, high esters. Subtle barnyard. Large stable white head. Lightly hazy golden colour. Complex and balanced taste. Moderate sweetness, fruity, light earthy and barnyard. Well attenuated, yet the body feels medium. Finishes with a touch of alcohol. Very good.

0.25l (I think) at Magic Beer Room, Zagreb. Golden-yellow body with pearly carbonation and a lasting medium to big white head. Sweetish apple aroma mostly. Slightly perhaps overcarbonated taste, grainy, apples and honeyish, very light tartness, just slightly grainy and herbal. Interesting stuff, a nice and drinkable little saison.

Bottle. Stunned I’ve not rated it. Nose is funky, yeast, strawberry, melon, sherbert, hints of lime. Taste is funky, floral, strawberry, white peach, slight hint of lime, and a sourness in the spicy, peppery finish. Additional notes of honey, cloves, wheat. Mouthfeel is pleasingly light and dry. A very nice saison, which in most other brewers ranges would be one of their very best beers; for the magnificent Dupont, it’s simply good.

Pours cloudy orange into the bottle with a bubbly but fleeting crown. The sweet aroma of berry, pineapple and yeast greets the nose. Taste is unexpectedly dry given the aroma, the lightly bitter hops at the fore, followed by a restrained yeastiness, a bit of clove, and a faint touch of honey. Palate is medium bodied with a lively but not aggressive carbonation. Finish is short and dry. Very pleasant.
