Fragrance and taste of the “yeast-cloudy” wheat beer are distinguished by a refined top-fermented flowery-yeast character and an unmistakable, distinct banana aroma. First sensation on the taste buds is full-bodied, very soft and mild with a lively, champagne-like sparkle. A light, typical wheat beer taste is expressed, the bitter tone of which can scarcely be detected. The sparklingly refreshing Ayinger Bräuweisse will impress every wheat beer connoisseur with the first mouthful.

Bottle. Hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma is refreshing with a fine combination of citric fruit, lemon, banana, cloves and wheat. Flavor is refreshing as well, light wheat, slightly lemon acidic, citric fruit, sweet banana, hint of honey, spicy like cloves and spicy yeast. Medium body and fine, long lasting aftertaste. A classic German hefe – the original hazy!

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy pale yellow gold with a large lingering white head that leaves some patchy lace. Nose is floral with some wheat, citrus, light banana, light spice and a hint of salt. Flavour follows with the banana a bit more prominent in the light sweetness and a touch of citrus tartness and very light cloves. Mouth is medium- and smooth with active carbonation. Excellent. 8/4/7+/4-/16-

Bottle poured, with much thanks to Stefan for gifting the bottle during the Seattle visit. Always a treat to try a true German hefe, after so many wheat beers that don’t come close. Cloudy pale golden yellow pour with a lasting head. Floral aroma, some lemon and other citrus. Slight champagne like note here too. Flavor is a good amount of banana to pair with wheat. Floral. Citrus, but with no bite. Smooth, cool and flavorful. This is what a hefe should be. Excellent.
