Traditional winter seasonals are warm and comforting - not this Penguin. Diving in at around 10 percent alcohol by volume, Killer Penguin uses over twice the malt as other winter beers, and is aged for over 6 months to perfect the condition and flavor of this barleywine style ale. This beer doesn't ferment, it hibernates, and wakes up with an attitude.

A big, light tan head with solid lacing on a dense, unfiltered orange/brown body. Taste profile starts with a nice boozy warmth with rich toffee, roasted malt and dark berries. Candied fruit and fresh hops boost and add to the flavour. The body is dense and rich. A slight syrupiness is well balanced by solid effervescence. A hint of sourness? My kind of barley wine.

Bottle. Very slightly hazy deep amber color. Aroma of candied caramel, light pine. Taste is bittersweet pine. More hoppy than your usual barleywine.
