This Braggot features local blueberries and honey, a very limited amount of hops and is fermented with Belgian style yeast. The result is a straw-colored beer with blueberry highlights. On the first sip you will notice a light sweetness along with citrus notes followed by a well-rounded malt character. This beer has a medium full body.

Clear golden coloured body with no head at all and a very glassy and clear golden tint. Aroma of honey, light malt, a touch of yeast and bread and a little bit of blueberries, but not much at all - this is all about the sweetness from the honey. Medium-bodied; Assertive honey sweetness with a nice sticky and medium maltiness throughout with some touches of floral and citrus notes, but the honey sweetness dominates and interestingly enough - hardly any alcohol shows through - and at 15%! Aftertaste is pure malt, bread, yeast and especially honey - plenty of sweetness around. Overall, a great and very simplistic mead with some mellow blueberry notes, a lot of bread and yeast flavours, but a ton of honey sweetness and not much alcohol pungency, which is great for someone who wants these qualities, but is pretty good for the style from a casual drinker of these meads. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (P Street, Logan Circle), D.C. on 23-February-2015 for US$10,99 sampled at home in Pungoteague/Onancock, Virginia (Eastern Shore) on 28-May-2017.

12 ounce bottle. Bright Amber gold color. Small creamy white head. Perfumy, fruity, honey malt nose. First sip is sweet honey and berry with lots of warming alcohol. Cloying bittersweet blueberry notes in middle. Slightly sticky citrus peel finish. A big fruity booze bomb. Too much ABV makes this a bit much to palate.

12oz bottle, dated BB 2/2/19. Poured into small goblet glass. Color is dim, orange hued gold, clear. Surface covering lacing, not sticky. Aroma is moderately strong, some alcohol essence, maybe a generic berry aspect, not very blueberry. Not sticky thick or big but some alcoholic sweetness. A medium body with light carbonation. Again, nicely done that its not a overly sticky beer, maybe some stick. I would not have guessed this is a braggot, just comes off as a strong golden ale, closer to Belgian-ish. Low bitterness, an alcohol heft. Not very blueberry aroma. Some alcohol burn at the back of the throat. Low hops (which is great). Finishes not rough despite the felt alcohol. Its a pricey 4-pack but for 15% its a pretty good deal.

From a 750ml bottle at the DC July tasting. Poured a slightly hazy golden amber color with a small fizzy, quickly disipating head. Aroma was boozy berries, honey is certainly there. Warming, burning sensation. Lots of booze in this one, but pretty well rounded.
