Draught at EBF, 2/3/17.
Hazy light-blonde body is topped by a large, but rapidly receding white head.
Even notes of gentle Brett and lots of peppery phenols mix with minimal acetic character and moderate lactic acidity. Not overly funky, really, with biscuity malts, lots of mineral and only traces of light oak. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it’s got ample, engaging carbonation and a soft, fairly malty texture. Some bread, lots of black pepper, lively Brett adding light band aid and lime and a light oakiness mixing with slightly sour lactic acidity. Very gentle, light stuff but obviously well-made/well-aged. Not all that interesting or characterful, but that’s ok.
