This is a blend of barleywines that have rested in Four Roses barrels for 16 months. We blended this to be a hybrid English (75%) meets American(25%) Barleywine.

Power tasting at Matt's, bottle; no mention of 'Year One'; it says it's a 100% Maris Otter BW aged for 16 months in Four Roses, but no mention about the blending on the label
The colour is almost black, no head. Mild aroma of bourbon, some alcohol. Good body strength, but the alcohol is so strong that limits the effects of the body; chaotic combination of malts, caramel, ashes, dark fruits.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Dark brown with almost no tan head. Nice bourbon character, but it does take away from (or maybe hides) the barley wine character of dark fruits and hint of caramel, which is just okay. Despite this, the bourbon character is nice.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels, some toffee, and some dark fruits. Flavour is full of dark dried fruits, moderate bourbon barrels, and some toffee. Very fruity, with plenty of bourbon barrels and toffee. Not the most complex, but it's very deep and fruity. Good.

Dark brown, no head. There's a lot of fruitiness, light barrel, and on the palate it's quite fruity, has a soft barrel character, and then there's a decent body with a solid alcohol blast in the finish. Sticky and boozy.

750ml (thx, Tom B. for this bottle!) @ Matt's. Appearance: dark brown with a very weak tan head. Aroma: dark fruits, bourbon, sweetness, some fruity sours. Taste: along the same lines, quite boozy, toffee, lots of bourbon barrel presence. Overall: pretty good, a bit boozy, though.

Bottle thanks to Ian. Pours a cloudy brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is candi sugar, caramel, wood, vanilla, raisin, bourbon. Slick body, dark fruit, wood, bourbon, toffee, dry finish, very nice.
