Chocolate Chipotle Stout.
Designed to challenge the senses as well as perceptions, this is an easy-drinking, strong flavoured and spiced stout. This beer has captured the imagination and the fans across the UK and in America, even gaining an honourable mention in the 2013 Brussels Beer Challenge.
Taking you on a journey to South America, via Yorkshire, drinking this 6.5% Chipotle Chocolate Stout is a journey in itself. Rich heady chocolate on the nose, it’s all about deep luscious stouty goodness throughout with a soft mouthfeel. Just as a coffee bitterness develops, and you’re thinking that the party’s over, a subtle dry heat arrives that not only leaves your mouth tingling, but also thirsty and gasping for another taste. The Mayans smoked their chillis, and rather than brew with smoked malt, which can add to the bitterness, we used freshly smoked dried chipotle chillis to add an extra layer of flavour.

Hops: Chinook, Galena & Bramling Cross

Svart med høyt kremete beige skum. Lukter vanilje, melkesjokolade og brunt sukker. Smaker vanilje, salt lakris og litt bitter espresso. Ettersmaken er lett salt og medium lang.

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a small head. Chocolate, vanilla, marzipan and chilli in the aroma. Nicely balanced and smooth taste with notes of chocolate and vanilla being evident at first with the chipotle giving it a noticeably warming yet subtle finish. It works very well.

Bottle from the LCBO. Dark brown with only the slightest of khaki heads that disappears immediately. Nose is smoky chocolate with hints of vanilla and plum. Light bitter sweet chocolate start with a pervasive smokiness and a moderate pepper heat building towards the finish. Medium creamy mouth with soft carbonation. Nicely balanced with the peppers adding rather than distracting.

Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av chokladpudding, kaffe, chilli, rostade toner, vanilj, brunt socker och en aning aska. Lagom sötma, bra sting, men lite artificiell i smakerna. Bitterchokadbeska.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE 06/15, courtesy of VastActiv, 20141122) The beer poured black. Its head was small and almost white. Aroma had vanilla, chocolate and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, chocolate, sweetness, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had vanilla, sweetness and bitterness. A brew having too much artificial-like addition.

50 cl bottle @ VastActiv, BBE 06/2015
Flavour has sweet vanilla tones and some roastiness. Flavour has artifical vanilla, roasted tones and ash. Aroma was good but the flavour is just too artifical.
