In late 2010 we decided to take 77 Lager and try do something pretty special with it. Because we are geeks and like numbers, we brewed a batch which was 7.7% then put it into single grain scotch whisky casks.
The beer has been aged for 18 months in oak now and has been lightly filtered (to remove the charring from the barrels).

Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head, hazy golden color. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish mineraly, mild butterscotch, wet hay, minerals, grain, sour grass, fruit stones, sour fruits, alcohol, almonds, toast, paper. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, hay, minerals, sour grass, fruit stones, sorrel, dried fruits, butterscotch, oak, paper, alcohol. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mineraly. Not what I expected from this one. Interesting.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty woody grainy aroma. Fruity malty woody grainy flavor. Has a fruity malty weak woody grainy finish.

Bottle at home. I remember this being quite nice on tap, but the bottle is sour on nose, taste is bitter and sour, dry, chewy, infected?

Botella de 33 cl en casa mayo de 2013. Del rincón de la cerveza. color miel oscuro algo turbio con espuma blanca poco persistente cuerpo ligero - medio. aromas intensos de madera, herbáceos y algo resinosos, también algo ahumados. sabores de maderas mas o menos intensos con toques resinosos y ligeramente amargos al final. Mas o menos buena, me esperaba algo mejor, habrá que darle otra oportunidad.

Pours a light amber with good 1cm lasting head. Woody, appley, viney sort of nose. Sweet taste, a little sour, touch of spice. Something about it that doesn’t say ’lager’. Carbonation good, texture a bit oily, finishes strangely bitter. Overall, not sure what to make of this beer. Interesting experiment.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear deep golden with a white head,. Aroma of wood, quite acidic and vinous, and a bit of hops, slightly stale. Bitter flavor of hops, a bit of floral and a bit stale, lots of wood and some funky vinous notes. Medium-bodied. Kinda weird.

Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of fusel oils, alcohol, wood, caramel malts, grapefruit and lemongrass. Sweet malty flavour, finish lemongrass, fusel oils and malts.
