Sour rye ale aged in oak barrels with blueberries and lavender

Rye Have Blue Dreams first found its way into bottle via a Hoarder's Small Batch Box in 2019. This sour rye ale was re-fermented with blueberries and just a kiss of lavender. The resulting ale is sharp, yet dreamily fruit forward with subtle accents of mint and rosemary from the addition of lavender.

Keg at BBNo, Bermondsey, 25/08/22. Light pinkish red with a faded crimson cap. Nose is sharp red berries, floral, funk, dry rot, damp hay, blueberry yoghurt, vanilla oak. Taste comprises vinous notes, red and blue berries, funk, full on acidic throat scrape, damp oak, sharp berry skins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close delivering a bracing acetic bite. Decent enough sour if perhaps a bit full on and lacking some finesse.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a hazy ruby with small white head. The aroma is floral, rye, oak, and blueberry. Slick body, tart berry, light funk, oak, spice, rye, light acidity, very good.
