Our take on the Whisky Old Fashioned. We start with a sour imperial red ale aged in bourbon barrels from Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado and add organic tart cherries and orange peels. Aromas of dark cherry and fine bourbon emerge over a bright cherry acidity, followed by dark aged fruits and oak, while a subtle warming lingers from the bourbon.

Tasters choice thanks Kelly and Dave for sharing. Dark amber with hints of garnet coming through and minimal head. Earthy dusty tart cherry and hints of lemon. Light tannin bits of citrus. Not bad.

On tap at Pure Project Balboa Park. Pours a cloudy copper with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is leather, oak, cherry skin. Slick body, leather, cherry, oak tannin, acidic, boozy finish, very good.

Draft pour enjoyed at Pure Project. A darker copper red, clean pour, active fizz head. Aroma is sweet and tart, black cherry, soft whiskey time. Flavor is sweet, has winter like spices. Cinnamon, cherry and whiskey combine for a really unique and interesting brew. Pretty good.

On tap at Pure Project, pours a hazy amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out a great mix of bourbon barrels, balsamic and tart fruits. Flavour is complex as hell, with loads of bourbon barrels, mixes beautifully with the tart red fruits and wood. Acidic but pleasantly so. Complex and wonderful all round. Excellent.
