On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad as “Fresh Hop Pale Ale”. Pours a copper gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is dank and grapefruit. Slick body, grapefruit, pine, resin bitterness, very good.

Keg at PP SB, 14/11/14. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is straw, citric rind, light bread dough, vanilla, rather thin and found wanting. Taste comprises bitter orange, grassy, lemon rind, pale malt, light bread notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so, homebrew APA!

On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach, pours a hazy golden / copper with a small white head. Aroma and flavour of biscuity, crackery malt, light floral hops, and dry crackery malts. Pretty ordinary, but ultimately fairly boring. Solidly made.

On tap at Brickskeller DC. Pours a clear orange with a thin, frothy white head. Nice, fresh aroma, not too punchy, lightly spicy, citrus, a little candy. Flavor is mild, sweet, orange, lemons, pine, caramel, some biscuit. Medium bodied, dry finish. Very well balanced. Fresh but also mild.

On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente’s Hoptoberfest. Pours with a clear golden body and a lasting white head. Aroma is grainy, cereal and bready with herbal, and spicy hops. A bit of dry hop grassiness. Flavors of grain, cereal, citrus, herbal hops and popcorn. Very lively bubbles. Dry. Very sessionable, but leans towards the grainy/malty side of things (sort of like San Clemente’s Rip Tide).
Re-rate: On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a brilliantly clear golden hued body with a retentive and lace producing white head. Strong fruity aromas, floral, delicate tropical fruit notes, flowery, grassy, light esters and some sweetness. A bit dank the more you sip. Flavors are grainy, bready, dry and a bit of DMS possibly (didn’t smell it on any other PPSB beers). Very fruity, a bit spicy, grassy, floral. Dry. Very grainy, tropical fruit. Light bubbles, dry, lighter bodied.

Cask sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a mostly clear pale orange color with a medium and creamy ivory white head that dissipates slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Aroma of subtle floral hops and earthy malt. Medium, smooth body with notes of resiny hops, malt and some dark fruit. The finish is soft and fruity with a short leafy hops aftertaste. Decent, but it makes me hope I can try it on the tower sometime.
