The 'original' Boucanier, commissioned by Icobes (International Company Beers Ltd.). Formerly known as Bière du Boucanier Blonde and based on Piraat or even an alias of it.

Queen of the "Belgian Strong Ale" category, the incomparable and renowned golden blond beer, defined in the insert Lekkerbek (Gourmet) of the Belgian daily newspaper Gentenaar of 7 October 2001 as one of the "Three Top" of the "Belgian strong ale & triple ale" category.
It’s the strongest of Boucanier beers with intense and vigorous rich malt taste, powerful and harmonious aftertaste.
For the high quality and excellent taste Boucanier Golden Ale:
- won the golden medal with 3 stars of the “Superior Taste Award 2014” of ITQI in Brussels;
- became a Country Winner in the selection of the "WORLD BEER AWARDS 2019" in the UK;
- won the silver medal at the "LONDON BEER COMPETITION 2019", taking the third place among 350 competing beers from all over the world;
- obtained the "GRAND GOLD 2020", important German award by Frankfurt International Trophy.
It is a typical convivial beer, excellent for meditation and for special celebrations or to drink with gourmet foods.
Perfect tasting temperature is 46,4-53,6 °F / 8-12 °C.

Bottled (as Biere du boucanier Golden Ale). Golden colour with a nice huge creamy white head. Aroma is banana, fruits, yeast, alcohol and barnyard. Flavour is citrus, bananas, yeast, some slight barnyard. Alcohol gives a small sweetish sting. Excellently balanced beer.

Aromas of yeast, spice and hop. Brassy golden color with substantial white head that laces. Starts a bit malty sweet, with some light spice, some citrus, some yeast, and not a great deal of hop. The finish is a bit herby, vegy. They may not have used spice, herbs or veg, but that yeast must develop those sorts of flavors. Pretty decent ale.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is very spicy with some citrus and yeasty creamyness. Flavor is sugar,sugar and more sugar. Some citrus, yeast and banana makes it through the sweetness. Alcohol does appear in a big way but does not distract from the flavors. Very tasty and a good sipper on a summer night.

Man, this is smooth for 11%. I was really surprised how strong this golden brew is. Its thick white head and the sugar candy, oranges, apples, cardomon hints from the nose suggested something a bit tamer. The mouth was sweet, but balanced with excellent fruity flavors. Decievingly delicious.

Bottle: Poured a deep yellowish ale with a huge bubbly dirty white head with minimal retention. Aroma of alcohol is easily detectable and not that enjoyable; some spices seems also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by the overpowering alcohol, which ruined it for me. Couple extra points for the presence of slightly bitter hops thought.

Bottled. Golden colour, small head. Aroma of yeast and estery banana. Very sweet with dense, clean malt character. Honey and malt sweetmess dominates this beer, covering up the massive alcohol contents, but not providing much enjoyment.
