Nutty, fudgey, chocolatey goodness in a glass, with added roasted coffee complexity. This beer slaps!
A trip to Cardiff is not compete without a pit stop at Hard Lines. This cafe-cum-roastery have been making a name for themselves with their masterful roasts and joyful branding. If you find yourself in the Welsh capital they are well worth checking out.
To develop this beer we sampled a selection of Hard Lines coffee from different origins, settling on the San Florenico for its rich hazelnut & chocolate aroma.
With such a strong starting point we decided to double down on the N*tella vibes. Joining the coffee we added chocolate, a heck load of roasted hazelnuts, some vanilla for a sweetness that isn't saccharine & a pinch of salt to really bring everything together.
The result is pretty special!

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the Experiment. Pours black-brown with a modest, creamy beige head. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of cocoa, toasted malts, burnt hazelnuts, earth, a little coffee and fudge. Full bodied, lightly oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth to finish, more rich and layered chocolate character, more tasty nutty notes, mocha. Delicious, nice depth, impressively drinkable.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 14/01/22. Black with a thin tan head that soon dissipates. Nose is sweet malts, vanilla, nutty, toffee fudge, chocolate pot, brown sugar melt. Taste comprises dark malts, pinch of coffee, treacle toffee, chocolate fudge, vanilla essence, mellow roast, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced lick of booze. Solid kit ... never to sweet ... good balance.

Black beer, thin head soon fizzes away. Flavour is super rich with milk chocolate and hazelnut. Flavour is hearty with milk chocolate, a good dose of slightly earthy coffee, malt, a good nutty kick. All delivered with a rich smooth body which balances all these without being sickly and has an airy waft of coffee among the chocolate in the finish. Superb stuff.
