Rainbows Are Real, a vibrant IPA, is hazy and brewed with the terpenes Linalool and Beta-Pinene. The terpenes enhance floral and pine notes and supplement sweet, citrusy hops. The aromatic compounds, derived from natural botanical sources, are used to elevate the beer’s aroma. In this case, their floral and piney flavors supplement the sweet malt backbone and juicy mix of Azacca, Citra, and Mosaic hops. This allows Rainbows are Real to shine in a new way.

Can from Beer Republic. Hazy ochre, thin, off-white head. Aroma of stale orange juice, mango, grapefruit peel, peeled onion, sweat, ripe pineapple, biscuit. Taste has sweet pineapple, mango & tangerine, bitter citrus peel, bit dank & oniony along a biscuity malt backbone. Floral hoppy finish, quite citrus and bitter grapefruity. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. 'Hazy' is quite deceiving here. Pretty good.

Pours a dark amber from a can. Big stone and citrus fruit notes in the notes, syrupy fruit in the mouth, rather sweet and overripe. Good beer.

Pours hazy deep gold into a tulip. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Tangerine and peach aromas. Thick with dusty peach skin, overripe mango and sweet caramel upfront turning to earthy pine in the medium length finish.

Enjoyed it directly from the can, 0.473l. Aroma is citrusy, tropical fruity, peachy, piney and biscuity. Pours hazy golden color with average sparkling appearance. Taste starts refreshing tropical fruity and medium sweet malty, following is herbal, citrusy and floral, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. A bit extraordinary, but still nicely palatable…

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours somewhat hazy orange gold with a large foamy white head. Aroma is citrus, pine, mildly roasty malt, and something suggesting pineapple. Med minus body. Don't know where the carbonation went. Flavor is not wholly dry; a flavor not unlike pineapple upside down cake. Citrus/pine notes. Some florality. Flavors are not individually strong. The whole is mightier than the sum of the parts. Very, very different. Worthwhile experience.

Another Clown Shoes, that is good. Another NE style IPA, whatever. The 16 oz can, bought in FW at a Total Wine, looks quite nice graphically. The Buffalo Bayou snifter is arrayed for this tasting, see what is going on. An opaque yellow with a decent top of white foam, no surprises here. A nose of grass and tropical fruit, nice. And a taste of light pine, orange juice, varnish and a bit of flowery hops. There are better and there are worse.
