330ml bottle @ Pannuhuone, Kuopio
BBE 24.07.2012 - Pours pitch black with a small bubbly brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa and hints of vegetables. Taste is smooth and slightly roasty with a full body and hints of vanilla, smoke, milk chocolate and mild notes of vegetables. Finish is smooth and milky with some vanilla, chocolate and vegetable notes. A bit unbalanced and the vegetable notes are a bit unpleasant.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Nordic. Rated on 30.03.2011
Aroma has rather roasted malt with coffee and some sourness. Flavour is sour and dry with well roasted malt, coffee and salty licorice. Bitter finish. Not very good.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, 20110506) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts. Palate was full bodied, oily and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, vanilla, salt, liquorice, soy sauce, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had soy sauce and bitterness. Very different from the previous Äkäpukki. Vanilla scent and flavour was really pleasant. The soy sauce was a bit off putting.

Bottled 330ml (Beer Hunters, BB 07/2012)
Dark brown, opaque color, thick brown head. Cocoa, toasted malts and rye bread in the nose. Reminds me about Slottskällans IS. Full-bodied. Lots of licorice in a milky-lactosey milk stout -like flavor. Coffeish, toasted aftertaste. Low bitterness. Quite "basic" imperial stout which could have a bit more hops and which does not have any additional "gimmicks". Quite different than a version three years ago.
