Cask-conditioned at the Wenlock, London 17/1/2011. Mahogany in colour with a slight, off-white head. Malty, berry fruit and marmite aroma, with a hint of chocolate. Sweetish flavour of caramel, fruit and nuts with a decent bitter finish. Fine.

Cask gravity at Battersea BF 09. Very roasted toasty dark bitter. Some English yeast on it. It’s reasonably tasty. Unusual to have such a dark bitter. Fine

(From old notes, cask at St Urho’s on 2008-01-17) On the tap label it read Downton Chimera Black Knight but I assume it was this beer. Rather dark, some hints of red. Quite nonexistent head. When sipping the beer, first I could taste hops and then the taste flattened. Some malts in taste at the beginning but towards the end the bitterness of roasted malts approaches unpleasant taste. Perhaps, the cask wasn’t at its prime.

Dark ruby brown color, decent brownish head. Nutty hoppy, caramelly aroma. Roasted, medium hoppy flavor with decent amount of caramel malt. Very full-bodied for being 4,1 % beer. Maybe a bit too toasted, and perhaps slightly one-dimensional, but overall ok.

Cask@O’Connells, Tampere. Very dark brown colour, mediumsized brownish head. Some earth, malts and mild fruityness in the aroma. Flavour is big earthyness along with mild roasted notes and some citrus fruits.. Does the earthyness belong here or was this real ale past it’s prime?

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of nuts and fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit, berries, and toffee, leading to a bitter finish.
