Here at Hornbeer, we are crazy about IPA's. That is why we have now made an organic one, as a tribute to the English breweries that invented this type of beer. The beer type IPA (Indian Pale Ale) originated in the 1700s, when Britain sailed their beers to their colony India, where it was too hot to brew beer locally but the demand for thirst-quenching beer was high among Brits at India's trading stations. But the beer had a tough time coping with the long trip, from England to India. The British found the solution to this, it was higher alcohol content and more added hops, and thus the IPA was born. We say thank you very much for that.

Keg at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. Pours clear golden with a white cap. Aroma is grains, fruity, grass. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, fresh, light malty, grassy. Medium body with soft carbonation. OK.

Draft at the Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. Poured a clear golden colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, floral hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a fresh, crisp, malt, mineral, lavender floral, dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Interesting and rather tasty, but absolutely nothing like an English IPA.

Bottle from Hornbeer. Light hazy amber a big white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light hoppy - citrus and old hops. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. High carbonation. Very boring. 080621

Bottled 330ml (KCM Puuvilla)
Amber colour, medium-sized off-white head. Quite active brew when I opened the cap. Grass and yeast in the nose. Light-bodied. Some fruits and pine in the flavour. Ecology grainyness in the flavour. Neh.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of phenols, yeast, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of phenols, yeast, hops, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. Seems it has a fermentation flaw.

Bottle 33 cl. Has a very fizzy pour, filling the glass with mostly foam that has an amazing retention. Hazy golden with a white head. Nose is really delicious with plenty of citrusy and peachy hop aromas. Dry body, an initial slightly sweet fruitiness, but then the hops take over, slightly dusty, slightly chalky but with amazing hop notes. Quite a bitter finish. Actually a delicious IPA. 071220
