I only read "Dunkel Export" on the label and exspected a Dunkel. The "Kloster Weisse" ist written in almost unreadable letters, so I was surprised when I realized its a Hefeweizen. So strange name. Beer in the glass much better, dark brown, nice head. Starts wonderful soft-malty, modest yeasty, fruity hints of raisins and berries. Nice caramel notes in the background. Finish well balanced, warming malty, fine yeasty, not too sweet. Very drinkable. This is a great beer!

(bottle) Cloudy, chestnut-brown colour with a tall and tanned foamy head. Toasty malty aroma with a moderate wheat-character, rather restrained fruity notes of dried fruits and a distinctively spicy touch reminding of thyme, accompanied by shades of chocolate. Moderately sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty and slightly chocolatey malty and wheaty taste, again with rather delicately fruity notes and mild phenolic spices; mildly sweet and wheaty finish with notes of chocolate in the aftertaste. All in all a fine and rounded Dunkelweizen. 03.XII.11
