Draft @ BXLBeerFest’24.

The unblended draft version of the recently issued blueberry version of Rullquin, sampled at ZBF. Medium thick, pale greyish beige, moussy but opening and thinning head on a hazy purplish deep burgundy-brown beer. Aroma of passionfruit, hard caramel, rosehip, indeed (dried) blueberries, red wine vinegar, dried prunes, earth, wood. Tart onset, dried fruits mingled with sour-spicy blueberry, notes of sour plum and passionfruit, quite fizzy carbonation for an unblended lambic, bit vinous mouthfeel; hard-caramelly and brown-bready malt core under lovely yoghurty lactic tartness with a side note of very old red wine and earthy accents. Complex, woody, fruity, vinous, long finish. The backblended and bottled version already pleasantly surprised me recently and this explains why.

Zythos 2022. Dark brown with quick fading head. Loads of funkiness and sharpness. A touch of sweet blueberry too.
