Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Pours oily black with a thick tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is more of the same. Lightly boozy. Chocolate liqueur. Nice.

30th December 2021 Pretty much an opaque dark brown beer, the small tan head fizzes away to nothing in a very short span of time. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. The dark malts bring a delightful chocolate ganache and much less milder chocolate cake. Mild vanilla and coconut. The Port Barrel is quite light as Barrelling goes but bring a nice light berry vibe, mostly dark berries, blackberry and blackcurrant but with a mild overlay of red berries. Mild spice on the back end. Nice job, the dark malts and the judicious adjuncts are a delight. The Barrelling may have been intentionally light but I think more would have been better here, some extra Port BA intensity could have taken this a lot higher. Coconut gets stronger on the finish. Lovely. Could have been a stunner.

Bottle at home, from CW online, 05/12/21. Pitch black with a dirty tan cap that hangs out for a few minutes then settles to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, light spice, liquid fruit cake, coconut shavings, tonka bean, toffee, molasses. Taste comprises chocolate dipped raisins, bourbon barrel, chocolate, vanilla, fruit cake, brown sugar melt, treacle toffee, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, oily feel with a balanced rising boost. Top notch impy stout ... great flavour profile and balance.
