A Weißbier/Weissbier (German for “white beer” but also derived from “wheat beer”) — pronounced “vice” bier — is based on the German tradition of mixing at least 50% wheat to barley malt to make a light colored beer. Bohemian Brewery’s Bavarian Weiss is brewed with wheat malt & Czech house yeast, then left unfiltered for a cloudy, white appearance. Lagered for a refreshing, smooth flavor, this light-bodied beer is the perfect thirst quencher without the banana/clove notes found in a traditional Bavarian Hefeweizen.

Tap. Pours light hazy straw, medium white head, nice lacing. Aroma is wheat, lacking traditional hef esters, citrus. Flavor is light sweet, no bitterness, twinge of tartness. Light body. Let it tart up a bit and call it a Berliner.

On tap at the brewpub pouring pale opaque gold with white head. The modest aroma offers up some grainy malts and echoes of citrus from the lemon wedge that they put in the beer. The taste has a nice yummy grainy maltiness laced with mild sweet fruity esters and a touch of malt or caramel or butterscotch or something sweet into the finish.
