Let’s chat about our old pal IPA. They’re fun to have around, they’re the life of the craft beer party, and they are big on flavour and booze. Sometimes, as much as it begrudges us to say it, they’re just a bit much. What if IPA could tone it down, chill a bit, ya know? For that reason, we have developed Halo IPA, and it is truly heaven-sent. It’s IPAs angelic little sibling; full flavour, but with half the typical alcohol content. We know what you’re thinking: it’s not possible! But, after one sip, even the staunchest skeptics will believe in miracles.

MALTS: PILSNER, 2-ROW, HONEYED OAT MALT, CARAPILS
HOPS: TALUS, HBC 586, AMARILLO
COLOUR: HAZY LIGHT YELLOW

Poured from the tap. Hazy pale blonde with small white head. Lemony citrus bite, simple, okay flavour for small ABV.

On tap at Steamworks Mt Pleasant, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out light earthy hops and bready malt. Flavour is dry, with earthy hops and bready malt. Gentle bitterness but not terrible interesting. It's alright.

Okay hazy body minimal foam. Not bad melon and dank pine on the nose. Taste is tepid melon, vague pine, ending smooth and wet. Drinkable but tepid.

473ml can. Pours a hazy blonde with a small, foamy, short lived, white head that laces. Mild, fruity aroma of bready pale malt, peach, lemon and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, peach, passion fruit, lemon rind and herbal hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Clean, refreshing and crushable. Surprisingly flavourful for a 3.5% beer.

Hazy and pale with a thick head. Light papaya and stone fruit hop notes on the nose, with a touch of yeastiness. Light body. A bit weedy, herbal, and fruity. I like that blend of hop notes. Mellow pale malts and a light yeastiness provide a decent base. I like this.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Pale blond colour, hazy. Aroma and flavour have some mild but nice tropical hops. The mouthfeel is dry, and it's quite weak, without much malt flavour. It has a light mineral character. For a session Ale, it's well done.
